Franki Love

Q: If you could use a tagline of less than 20 words to describe your music and who you are what would it be?

Soulful, sensual, truthful, piano love song fairy.

Q: What is your musical background?

I’ve been playing piano since I was 4 years old. My Mom had all of the children (3 of us) take piano lessons at age 5 and everyone tried quitting when they were 12 years old. My parents let everyone quit piano except me.  It made me think I was probably good at it and then from age 13 and on it has been the greatest love affair. I am sincerely in love with the piano.

Q: How have the last 12 months been for you?

Musically it has been great. I released an album called “Now Is The Time” in August 2011 – did a tour to promote it in NYC, SAN FRANCISCO, LOS ANGELES & FRANCE. Performed at the Cannes Film Festival May 2012, played piano in the Castle of Chambord, France for a PBS special. Also came out with a dance remix ep album of the song “Now Is The Time” with Japanese record label Somode on August 30, 2012.

Q: Who inspires you musically?

Any musician, singer or songwriter who is genuine and real.

Q: Which modern day artists do you look up to?

I like Gyote, his story, his song “Someone I Used to Know”. He’s organic, real and he struggled quite a bit till his 3rd album. He’s the real deal; unlike many of the manufactured bubble gum pop artists that are on the radio.

Q: Is there anyone you would like to collaborate or gig with?

Tracey Chapman. Eminem. John Mayer. Sade. Billy Joel. Michael Franti.

Q: What songs are you listening to at the moment?

I’m listening to DeadMau5, Notorious B.I.G. And Michael Jackson today

Q: What is your creative process for creating a track?

I start with just the piano or guitar and an open heart.  If the song sounds good with just a piano or guitar then most likely it will sound amazing fully produced.

Q: What’s more important, melody or lyrics?

They’re both equally important I think.

Q: Where are you based?

Los Angeles

Q: What’s it like being where you’re from?

It’s like a vacation here. Sunshine, palm trees, ocean, perfect weather all the time. That’s why I moved here from N.Y.

Q: What are you currently working on?

Tons of collaborations. One for Paris, one for the Philippines with a artist there, also a 5 year collaboration of an EP album that’s very special to me that will be released in the next 12 months.

Also, I just opened up a music studio in Santa Monica and will probably be creating a music publishing/label here and will be producing the single for my next album here as well. One of my dreams is to be a music producer and after years of watching the best do it, I have the confidence that I can become a great music producer now.

Q: What’s been the highlight of your career to date?

Performing at the Castle of Chambord in France & Walking the red carpet at The Hollywood Film Festival for the nomination of Best Music Video for “Shadow”.

Q: What are you hoping to achieve in over the next 12 months?

To come out with great collaborations and also to release an EP album. I’m also hoping to do some touring.  Also, over the next 12 months we’ll be focusing on getting many music placements in T.V. & Film.

Q: What do you do to relax?

Yoga, meditation, walking by the ocean, a glass of chilled champagne

Q: Where would your favorite holiday (vacation) be and why?

Aruba. It’s paradise. Perfect weather. You can drink the faucet water there and the food is great.

Q: If you could give a little piece of advice for new or aspiring musicians what would it be?

Only do music if you love it with all your heart. If you do it for any alternative reasons, like fame or money, people will know it and you probably will never be successful or happy.
