Q: If you could use a tagline of less than 20 words to describe your music and who you are what would it be?
My music is honest, passionate and soulful, I am an emotional wreck, and I live for music and come to life on stage. Born to perform!
Q: What is your musical background?
I started classical voice and ear training at the age of 16, then 3 years of training with David Lee Brewer in vocals and live performance.
Q: How have the last 12 months been for you?
Very exciting it’s been a lot of time preparing and recording but now with all the promo and gigging the real fun starts though I love recording too!
Q: Who inspires you musically?
Everything and everyone! If you want to express yourself artistically, you first have to have a life to express. Too true!
Q: Which modern day artists do you look up to?
Too many to list here, but Jennifer Hudson, Alicia Keys, Beyoncé, Mary J Blige, Christina Aguilera, Jazmine Sullivan
Q: Is there anyone you would like to collaborate or gig with?
I would really love collaborate with Alicia Keys and Jazmine Sullivan.
Q: What songs are you listening to at the moment?
Smile – Michael Jackson, Past Time Paradise – Stevie Wonder, End of Time – Beyoncé, My Heart – Jennifer Hudson, Keep It Between Us – Kelly Rowland, She Ain’t Got – Letoya Luckett
Q: What is your creative process for creating a track?
Usually my producer and I will discuss a vibe for a new track, he will then come up with music and I write the lyrics and vocal melody to it.
Q: What’s more important, melody or lyrics?
They’re as important as each other; one is nothing without the other in my opinion. The melody has to make sense for the lyrics and vice versa.
Q: Where are you based?
Q: What’s it like being where you’re from?
Great, I love the diversity!
Q: What are you currently working on?
I am working on the completion of my first album and planning a school tour for the summer as well as various gigs across London
Q: What’s been the highlight of your career to date?
Performing with the Berlin orchestra at the Berlin philharmonic to over 2000 people and dueting with David Lee Brewer.
Q: What are you hoping to achieve in over the next 12 months?
I’m hoping to create a fanbase and finish my album, get it heard by as many people as possible and choose the right label for me to take things to the next level.
Q: Do you have any gigs or shows that you’d like to tell us about?
I have a gig at the end of May and two in June all in London. In July I will be doing a school tour of the UK that I’m really excited about, as it will give me a chance to perform my debut EP.
Q: What do you do to relax?
Drink a glass of red wine.
Q: Where would your favourite holiday (vacation) be and why?
Some tiny little town in Spain or Italy with no phone reception. But no longer than a week, I would die without working for too long!
Q: If you could give a little piece of advice for new or aspiring musicians what would it be?
No matter what people say trust your instinct. You can’t please everyone, and you can only make good music if you stay true to yourself.
Q: Is there anything else you’d like to let our readers know about?
I will be releasing my debut EP in the summer that will be going up on ITunes for you all to buy. To keep updated on everything in my life you can connect with me on all my social networking sites.
