Juice is a talented Acoustic Pop Singer-Songwriter from Hollywood, USA and is out latest SonicBids competition winner. Juice’s dynamic and expressive voice really caught our attention and we were delighted when she agreed to complete a Feature Artist Interview for Song Revelation. Read the full interview below to discover, amongst other things, how Juice became interested in music, what she’s currently working on and what its like living in Hollywood.
Q: If you could use a tagline of less than 20 words to describe your music and who you are what would it be?
Unique in writing style and story telling. An old soul with an edgy touch. Candid honesty and heartfelt emotion. I sound like me and stay true to that.
Q: What is your musical background?
Performing and writing since the age of 13. I grew up in a musical home. My Dad was a recording artist signed to Columbia and Mercury Records in the 70’s with the band Heartsfield. I actually opened for Heartsfield and Kansas in 2008 for a benefit gig in the Midwest.
David Ragsdale the string/violinist from the band Kansas shared the stage with me at the benefit and accompanied me on my song “Count To Ten”. He also played strings on a song for my demo. I opened for Michelle Branch and Jessee Colter at an AZ chicks with Picks music festival at Tempe Beach Park.
I also opened for Sophie B Hawkins and Michelle Shocked at another AZ Chicks With Picks music festival. In 2007 I was one of 5 artist out of thousands to win a spot performing for a panel of industry judges at Stubbs BBQ in Austin Texas through Famecast.com Radio shows included XROCK 103.9 with Tom Lounges for” Women Who Rock”.
I also won the acoustic challenge on Kwss 106.7 and had my song “Vampire” featured.
Q: How was 2010 for you ?
Moved from Chicago to Phoenix briefly, then to L.A. to pursue my music career. I played in some great venues whilst in Phoenix with AZ Chicks With Picks. In L.A.I’ve played in the House of Blues on Sunset for “Harmonies for Haiti”. I’ve played in other great venues in LA too like: The Cabanna Club, The Rainbow Room, Universal Park and Grill and The Park!

Bright Eyes, Decemberists, Regina Spektor, Modest Mouse, The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac,

All the above!

Great culture and a diverse music scene. There’s also a great theater and some great food! I actually started out acting . I was in a commercial and three short (sundance) films.It‘s a great place to come from!

Q: What’s been the highlight of your career to date?
Opening for Kansas and sharing the stage with David Ragsdale. Recently I was interviewed by Terry Seymor about the audition process for Simon Cowell’s XFACTOR in my studio. I was seen singing a Jefferson Airplane tune: “Don’t You Want Somebody to Love”. It was aired on EXTRA TV on April 7th.!
Q: What are you hoping to achieve in 2011?
Increase my fan base, get a record deal and tour!
Q: Do you have any gigs or shows that you’d like to tell us about?
Bi-weekly gig at the Rainbow Room.Universal City Walk in July. The Mint too. There’s much more to come!

Go for a nature walk and writing
