Ann'so M

Q: What is your musical background?
After training at the Conservatory of Caen in France, I did my first concert in 2004 and then went out and recorded a first EP in 2006. I then followed this up with a lot of concerts throughout France.
I continued to compose with my team and I begin to write some lyrics and record for others … Gradually new titles were born. In 2010, the album “Pas à Pas” where I collaborated with Telephone’s guitarist, Louis Bertignac, on the song “Je ne veux pas être celle”. We shot several videos including one who is the festival’s opening “Off Courts” in Deauville.

Concerts continued in parallel and acoustic dates, were also taking place! The desire to record new songs was being felt at the end of the year, so we invited the public to finance it. Today we are in the studio and are currently recording several new tracks.
Stay tuned!

Ann'so M - Pas à Pas

Q: How was 2010 for you?
It was a very good year because the album “Pas à Pas” was released!
In parallel we were working on acoustic songs for other concerts in more intimate places !
This is another interesting aspect! Beautiful gigs were also held throughout the year, notably La Cigale in Paris.

Q: Who inspires you musically?
Quite a few artists : Gainsbourg, Noir désir in France, otherwise bands like U2, Placebo, Paramore, Garbage.

Q: Which modern day artists do you look up to?
Muse, Coldplay ,Nickelback, Lily Allen.

Q: Is there anyone you would like to collaborate or gig with?
Honestly with a lot of people! In France with Eiffel or Bertrand Cantat from Noir Désir, Indochine too, abroad : Melissa auf der maur, Placebo, Lenny Kravitz, etc …

Q: What songs are on your ipod at the moment?
“Down the drain” : Lilly Wood and the Prick
“The bitter end” : Placebo
“E.S.T” : White Lies
“Ignorance”: Paramore
etc ……

Q: What is your creative process for creating a track?
I work with my guitarist to get a guitar or a bass line that I like, then I isolate myself as I seek for a melody voice.
If it comes soon it’s ok, if it’s not, we drop it! We then repeat this process until I find something I like.

Once the melody voice is found, we think the arrangements then I make the lyrics according to what the melody inspires to me.

Q: What’s more important, melody or lyrics?
The melody undoubtedly! It is what will inspire the text.
Although obviously it should not mean sloppy text that is also important to put words on feelings.

Q: Where are you based?
In France, between Paris and Caen.

Q: What are you currently working on?
On the new songs ! Tomorrow we mix in the studio, I cannot wait !

Q: What’s been the highlight of your career to date?
My collaboration with Louis Bertignac ! Which resulted to something I like and some unforgettable moments…

Q: What are you hoping to achieve in 2011?
I hope I will continue to do more of what I’m doing and do more concerts everywhere!

Q: Do you have any gigs or shows that you’d like to tell us about?
Mine ! Come see us!

Q: What do you do to relax?
I listen to music :-)

Q: Is there anything else you’d like to let our readers know about?
You have to listen to us whether live or on CD! And if you like, please share!

Editor’s Note: Ann’so M has a considerable fan base already in her native France. With her catchy hooks and stage charisma we predict 2011 will once again be a successful year for Ann’so M.
